Miss India Collis – Art Subject Lead
Hello! I’m India Collis, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be Eastburn Primary’s Art Lead. With 15 years of experience in Early Years, I’ve seen first-hand the joy that creativity and artistic expression bring to children.
Art is more than just a subject—it’s a powerful way for children to communicate, build confidence, and discover their unique voices. I’m passionate about making art exciting and accessible for every child, ensuring they have the freedom to experiment, create, and develop a lifelong love for the arts.
Our curriculum introduces pupils to artists past and present, helping embed skills and knowledge through real-life art. We believe it is vital for children to encounter a diverse range of artists and cultures, so they can appreciate different perspectives and challenge stereotypes of what an artist looks like. Skills are built on year by year, with opportunities to work in a wide range of media—from drawing and painting to sculpture and digital art—broadening children’s creativity and expression.
At Eastburn, we proudly celebrate pupils’ artwork across school and within the community. Above all, we aim to instil a love of art and creativity, while equipping children with skills that will support them throughout life—and maybe even inspiring some budding artists of the future!
Here is some of the fabulous artwork work our 1 children have produced when learning about Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflowers.
