Eastburn Junior And Infant School

Assessment

On this page you will find information about how we assess how well children are progressing at Eastburn Junior and Infant School.  We assess all children against national Age Related Expectations with the exception of children in Reception Class who are assessed against the Early Learning Goals.

Each year group in school has a clear set of objectives for Reading, Writing and Mathematics taken from the National Curriculum, introduced in September 2014. Teachers assess how well children achieve against these objectives and where they may have gaps in their understanding. It also looks at the depth of their understanding and how well they are able to transfer and apply the skills they have learned to new contexts.

At each parents evening, the teacher will provide clear information about whether your child is on track to achieve Age Related Expectations in Reading, Writing and Maths and whether they are making good process from their starting points. You will also be given information about your child as a learner and their next steps. Please do not hesitate to speak to your child's class teacher should you have any further questions about assessment or how your child is progressing.
